Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about our heirloom-quality cookware
Do I need to season my Lodge cast iron before the first use?
No, all Lodge cast iron comes pre-seasoned with 100% natural vegetable oil, making it ready to use right out of the box.
How do I clean my cast iron skillet?
Wash with warm water and a small amount of mild soap if needed. Dry immediately and thoroughly with a lint-free cloth or paper towel.
Can I use Lodge cast iron on a glass top stove?
Yes, our cookware is compatible with glass stovetops. We recommend lifting the cookware rather than sliding it to prevent scratching.
What should I do if my pan starts to rust?
Rust is easily fixed. Scour the rust away with steel wool, rinse, dry, and rub with a light layer of vegetable oil before baking in the oven.
Is Lodge cookware induction compatible?
Yes, because cast iron is inherently magnetic, it works perfectly on all induction cooktops.
Can I put my cast iron in the dishwasher?
No. To preserve the seasoning and prevent rust, cast iron should always be hand-washed and dried immediately.
